1983
- Volunteer Hotline Opened for Sexual Assault
- Calls routed to volunteer’s homes
- Office was in the courthouse basement
- Became a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization
1989
- Received calls from domestic violence victims seeking help
- Added domestic violence services to the programming
- Office moved to N. Dixon one block from the Courthouse
2000
- Expanded services to include stalking and dating violence
2013
- Sexual Assault Interagency Forensic Team (SAIF Team)
- Brought Sexual Assault Exams and support services to Cooke County
2014
- Opened the 24-hour emergency shelter on Aspen – to provide a safe place for victims fleeing trauma
- Fully paid for by local community members
2015
- Received certification to be a Child Advocacy Center
2016
- Began conducting Forensic Interviews for child victims
- Began providing support services specific to children
2020
- Relocated all non-residential services to the Harvey Street Client Services Building
2024
- Celebrated 10 Year Anniversary of Abigail’s Arms Shelter
- As of June 4th, 2024, safety has been provided to 1,625 individuals.
- With an average stay of 40 days, Abigail’s Arms provided 63,072 nights of safety from the storm of violence.
- These clients were provided with 70,325 individual services by the caring staff.
