What’s Abigail’s Arms Up To?
As you know, Abigail’s Arms is an umbrella agency, meaning we have multiple programs under our name. We wanted to share what each of our 5 core programs have been doing this summer!
We are excited to have 2 new residential case managers, welcome Zackary and Rosalinda! Our residential staff and clients completed 10 support groups surrounding various topics: Essentials in the Home, Ending on a Positive Note, Conflict Resolution, Journaling, Self-Love, and Monthly Goals.
Abigail’s Arms volunteers lent their hand at reflooring some of the office space at our shelter.
We’d like to give a shoutout to DMax Theater for their support to our residential clients!
While our non-residential case managers are always working with clients, they have also been working behind the scenes on the Sexual Assault Interagency Forensic (SAIF) Team for Cooke County. All efforts are focused on implementing a protocol for handling sexual assault cases in our community. This includes spreading awareness and education to community members so they too can recognize, report, and have an understanding of their rights as survivors.
This summer, our CAPE Team and volunteers have been having fun playing games and teaching ‘Respect’ to the rising 5th and 6th graders at the Boys and Girls Club! Students listened intently, as Mrs. Roa shared the importance of expressing ourselves in a healthy and positive way. Thank you to the Boys and Girls Club for partnering with us!
Our CAC has also been super busy this summer! They completed the second cohort of parenting classes and reviews from parents and children were positive. Parents are excited to apply what they learned to their life. New parenting classes will start in the fall.
